Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy or DDP is a family-based intervention that deepens the emotional connection within families through the core principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy.

DDP was developed as a therapeutic tool for working with children who have experienced significant early trauma, children who are looked after, and for adoptive and foster families.

We help to strengthen families who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

At Brightside we use the principles of DDP and attachment theory to help to strengthen families who are experiencing relationship difficulties, through work with parents.

We can also offer consultation and supervision to residential and educational staff teams who work with traumatised children and young people, using a DDP and attachment-informed framework.

Please note that Brightside Psychology is a service for adults, so we do not work directly with children and young people.
