About Brightside Psychology

Is Brightside Psychology right for you?

Therapy sessions should be a safe space where you can talk openly without fear of judgement. It should be goal oriented, helping you to achieve the change you desire.

You might have been to see other mental health professionals, but not achieved the outcomes you were hoping for.

And we know therapy is an investment in both your time and money.

This information is here to help you make an informed choice and decide if Brightside is right for you.

My work with Brightside really has changed my life

“My psychologist has helped me build a toolbox of skills to help manage difficult thoughts. She has helped me to understand my relationships and file away some very traumatic events in my past.

This has not only helped me to enjoy life more, but hopefully prevent any generational trauma from being passed on to the next generation.

My only wish is that I started it sooner.”

Brightside has always been accommodating with my appointments.

I liked how I did a mix of therapy in person and remotely. I liked how the sessions were structured and I instantly felt at ease from the initial consultation through to therapy sessions.”

The Brightside Approach

Brightside Psychology was founded in 2016 by Dr Sophie Gwinnett.

Our aim has always been simple:

To deliver evidence-based and proven therapies, delivered by highly trained and regulated healthcare professionals, at a time when you need it.

Proven therapies, tailored to you

Therapy shouldn’t be a one size fits all service.

Everyone is different. Some interventions will be more effective for you than others. That’s absolutely normal.

Brightside offers a range of evidence based therapy interventions. Sessions are structured and tailored to your needs and goals.

Your clinician will give you work to do between your session. It’s a seven day approach towards a better life.

Therapy isn’t always easy. But it’s definitely worth it.

Sessions flexible to your goals and lifestyle

Whilst we recommend a minimum of 8 sessions, you get to decide the approach, how often you are seen, and the length of your therapy.

Sessions are available online and in person. We offer weekday, evening and Saturday appointments.

If it turns out it’s not right for you, there are options. You can stay with Brightside and see another clinician or try another therapy. Or we can support you in finding an alternative service which is a better fit for your needs.

Like a private medical consultation, you pay per session.

You are not tied into a contract, so you can leave when your needs have been met.

About your free 15-minute consultation call

Your first step is to book a 15 minute consultation phone call with Dr Sophie.

Choose a convenient time and date when you can talk freely and openly. Dr Sophie will call you back.

Please note, Brightside only offers therapy for adults.

What to expect from the call

On the phone call we will briefly talk about the circumstances which bring you to therapy. We will also discuss the outcomes you hope to achieve.

I will share approaches we can offer to help your situation,

and we will decide together whether Brightside is right for

you.

It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions.

You don’t have to make a decision on the call, you can take time to think and speak to other professionals.

All information shared will remain confidential.*

I look forward to speaking with you.

What you might want to ask

In your call, and in any conversations you have while choosing a mental health professional, you might like to ask

  • Have you worked with my type of difficulties before?
  • Which therapies are you trained in
  • How much experience do you have?
  • What outcomes do you get?
  • What approach or approaches would you use to manage my difficulties?

It’s also absolutely ok to ask to see evidence of qualifications.

I feel safe to express all of my most difficult and challenging areas of life

“I feel confident with my psychologist and feel conversations have been reflective and helpful. There have also been useful recommendations for additional reading and support.

“I enjoy my time reflecting on my challenges. When I leave the room, the conversation and thoughts stay with me. I can use that to help me stay on track, not to lapse back into negative and fearful thoughts.”

The Brightside Guarantee

If we don’t feel like we have the right skillset or experience to work with your

difficulties, we will not bring you into therapy.

We will only work with you if we feel like we can help. We don’t want to waste

your time or money.
